Countrywide Bank of America  August 2008 -- Southern California -- Prosecutors in Illinois and California are suing Countrywide Financial Corp., accusing the mortgage lender of engaging in deceptive and unfair practices. The lawsuits in Illinois and California were filed the same day Countrywide shareholders approved the company's takeover by Bank of America.
